Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service

A fire appliance with a firefighter climbing into the cab.The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is amongst the largest County Fire Services in the country servicing a population of just over one million and covering an area of 834 square miles. There is an establishment of approximately 1100 uniformed and non-uniformed staff, with a total of 24 operational fire stations of which 12 are staffed by wholetime/regular firefighters. The remaining 13 stations are staffed by retained firefighters.

Prevention, protection and response are three core elements of the work of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, and all of them focus on creating safer communities. Last year we saw improvements across almost all of our performance targets, with reductions in the number of deliberate fires, primary fires (houses, buildings), accidental house fires and the number of people injured in fires.

We continue to invest heavily in our front-line services with a rolling programme of replacing fire engines, upgrading the equipment they carry and making sure our firefighters have the most up-to-date skills and training.
